Thank You

Please accept our heartfelt thanks for your contributions to the clothes closet at Emanuel Hospital. As you are probably aware, our patients’ clothing is often removed and discarded upon admission. The social work staff often receives requests for clothes at the last minute, sometimes requiring much searching and rummaging around, and not always with success. The items you have donated make our jobs so much easier, and for that, we thank you. We also thank you on behalf of our patients who are already benefitting from your kindness. Yours truly, the Social Services Staff at Legacy Emanuel Hospital. (Clothing donations for the hospital may be left at the Missions Center at any time.)

Christmas Decorating

Can you help us decorate for Christmas? The fun will take place next Sunday, November 23, after the worship service. We will provide a light lunch and then get to work! If you are interested, please contact Pastor Brent Wyss (so that we can provide the right amount of food!). Last year the decorating only took a short amount of time, and with your help, we could set a new record this year!

Last Day for Photo Sessions

Today is the final day for photos to be taken for the new church directory. Please stop by the west hall of Level 4 8:45-9:15 a.m. or after the worship service until 12:30 to get your picture taken. If these times are not convenient for you, you may submit your own picture; please place it in the box at the Information Center. Submitted pictures will be returned for you to pick up the following Sunday at the Information Center. There is no charge for photos taken for the directory, although you may order a photo at a later date.

Upward Basketball Prayer Today

Over 600 kids have registered for Upward Basketball! Join us at 2:00 this afternoon in Room 307-8 for a special time of prayer for this ministry. Representatives from our partner churches will be meeting with us, too. Christmas Wreaths and Greens

Be prepared to order your Chistmas greenery next Sunday and the following week, November 23 & 30! A table will be set up in the foyer with samples and order forms. Orders will be available for pick up on Sunday, December 7. Proceeds benefit Student Ministries.

Advent Conspiracy

Worship fully. Spend less. Give more. Love all. We will be collecting a special offering on December 21, 10% of which will benefit clean water projects in Third World countries, and 90% of which will benefit projects targeting homelessness and at-risk youth in Portland.

Chrismons

Once again, we will be decorating our Christmas tree with Chrismons! Chrismons are beautiful symbols of Christ and Christianity, named from an abbreviation of "Christ" and "Monograms." Please pick up a Chrismon kit from the Information Center today and, over the next couple weeks, spend some meaningful time together as a family preparing your Chrismon. Parents of three year olds through kindergarteners will be given a specific Chrismon from the preschool department on Level 2. We will hold a special Advent service on November 30 when all families will have the opportunity to hang their Chrismons on the tree. We would encourage every family (including families of one!) to make a Chrismon for the tree, even if you will not be able to attend the November 30 service.

Service of Celebration

Next Sunday, November 23, we will have a service of celebration. You will hear testimonies of how God’s grace has transformed lives. You will hear conversion stories as well as powerful illustrations of how God is enriching lives on a daily basis. Consider inviting a friend to experience this uplifting service.

Revolve Tour

The Revolve Tour is coming to the Rose Garden this weekend, November 21-22! This event is designed to help teen girls learn about life, love, and God through music, drama, videos, stories, and more. We have 13 people attending; please pray for them this week!

Holiday MONDAY Brunch

The Sounds of Christmas, with former PFCN music team Larry and Linda Hightower, will be the feature of the Builders Christmas Brunch. Come to enjoy vocal solos by Larry, keyboard specials by Linda, group carols, holiday treats, and good fun! Suggested donation: $2.00 plus love offering for the Hightowers. Linda’s new DVD and CDs (including one for Christmas) will be availailable for purchase. Please note that the brunch is MONDAY, December 1, 10:00 a.m. in Room 307-8. All are welcome.

Calling All Book-Loving Ladies!

Ladies, you are invited to attend our next book club meeting on Tuesday, December 2. We’ll meet at 6:30 p.m. in the Fireside Room (Room 404), to discuss the #1 best-selling Three Cups of Tea by Greg Mortenson and David Oliver Relin. Wednesday Nights

Two Weeks Left!

There are only two weeks left to read all six missionary books! Read the books by December 1 and join us for a pizza party to celebrate! Sixteen kids have already finished the books! The books may be found in the office of Pastors Jesse & Shawna. The pizza party will be held in the gym following the worship service on Sunday, December 14. Please note that this is a change from the previously published party date.
